Teaser pentru urmatorul Batman
May 25, 2007
Toti de aici il iubesc pe Christian Bale? Hai sa aud un Yeah baby! Toti aici sunt into a dark man a carui pelerina flutura-n vant si a carui masina e super high-tech?
Brrrr. Did it just get cold in here? We’ve been following with interest the teaser campaign Warner Bros. have started running for forthcoming superhero blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight’. On the film’s homepage (www.thedarkknight.com), a single image links to a separate website designed to look like a campaign site for Gotham’s troubled district attorney Harvey Dent (www.ibelieveinharveydent.com). In the last week or two, this basic site also launched a pop-up – www.Ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com, showing Dent’s face defaced in red and white, the colours of the deformed Joker.
Still with us? After users stumbled upon this site and entered their emails, they were sent riddled text and also an X and Y coordinate. On returning to the web page and clicking on the specific coordinate, they were able to reveal one pixel of the final image at a time. And, because the Internet community tends to move at the speed of light (particularly where comic book superheroes are concerned) the picture was finally revealed as the image above – actor Heath Ledger as the Joker. In keeping with director Christopher Nolan’s superb realisation of a brutal Gotham in 2005’s ‘Batman Begins’, Ledger’s Joker promises to be a million miles away from Jack Nicholson’s 1989 portrayal of the ubervillain, all camp posturing and pinned eyebrows. We’re thinking part Ichi the Killer, part Lynchian nightmare. Hard to imagine taking your kids to see that.
As soon as the identity was revealed, the picture disappeared, and visitors to the site are now greeted with the words ‘page not found’. However, if you scroll your mouse over the page, you’ll find the Joker’s left you something to look at. *shudder*
The campaign appears to be the work of our favourite evil puppetmasters 42 Entertainment, they of the darkly intriguing alternate reality games. We’re suckers for Batman here at Contagious – it’s hard to resist all that Jungian symbolism – and we can’t help but feel the pairing of 42 with such an enticing entertainment property can only yield spectacular results.
It’s also interesting to see that the studio has started this campaign more than a year before the rumoured release date of the film (currently scheduled for July 18th, 2008). If this is how it starts, expect the game to get more complex and more intriguing in the months to come. God knows what we’ll all be doing by this time next year – trying to get Harvey Dent elected as Mayor of London, no doubt.
Sper ca ati mers pe pagina Joker-ului sa vedeti care e treaba. Enjoy si un romanesc rabdare si tutun.
